The APC Smart-UPS 1000XL is an extended runtime model. It is able to have battery packs added to it to provide an extended runtime. It is modular, and can be expanded as the need arises. The APC Smart-UPS 1000XL can have a maximum of 4 SU24XLBP external battery packs attached to it. The Smart-UPS 1000XL with a 100W load would provide a runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes. With one external battery pack and a 100W load, the runtime would be 9 hours and 45 minutes. With four external battery packs attached, a runtime of 30 hours and 28 minutes would be possible.
