The APC Smart-UPS X 3000VA is APC's new extended run time model. This is the newer version of the older XL units that allowed external battery packs to be added for extra run time. The SMX3000RMLV2U functions very much the same way. Additional battery packs (pn: SMX120RMBP2U) can be added to increase the run time. For example, with a load of 500W the SMX3000RMLV2U will provide 58 minutes of run time. The same 500W load on the SMX3000RMLV2U with a SMX120RMBP2U will provide a run time of 3 hours and 24 minutes.
