If you have a high end home theater system it’s definitely a good idea to put a UPS on it to make sure it’s protected when there’s a power problem such as a spike, sag, surge, or a brown out. That high end equipment on which you’ve spent thousands of dollars can get damaged by all those power anomalies and you won’t even know it.
Is a surge protector power bar enough?
We get this question all the time and the answer is NO! Those little power bars you buy at the local bodega are useless. They’re a power bar and that’s about it. Damage isn’t always caused by surges, it can also be caused by constant spikes or brownouts. All those anomalies take their toll on the power supplies and the equipment until one day it’s toast.
What kind of a system should I get?
At the very minimum you should put a Back-UPS on the system. After you determine how many devices you have you can size out the appropriate UPS or give us a call and we’ll help you with that. The Back-UPS series will protect your equipment from surges and provide a run time to safely shut down your TV, DVR and anything else you have plugged in.
If you’re a little more concerned, you need to get yourself a Smart-UPS. The Smart-UPSs are used to protect servers, these units are reliable, they filter power and ensure that all connected equipment is always protected. We can help you size the right Smart-UPS for your system.
The real question is, if you spent 10K on your home theater system, why would you protect it with a $1.00 power bar from the dollar store?
Get in touch with us and we’ll get you set up.
